The combination is a three-man cooperation between the twins Henk and Jan, and Henk’s son Dennis.
Henk and Jan are retired, while Dennis is a certified accountant and owner of his accountancy practice.
The twin brothers Henk and Jan settled with their respective families, and lived in one big house. In 2004 they decided to move and live separately and close to each other in Vlaardingen, their home town. Dennis and wife and three kids live in the area where the pigeons were very successful earlier.
Henk takes responsibility for the bred-pigeons and newly bought ondes, whilst Jan takes care of the flight-pigeons, in a 6,5 meter shed.
The move in 2004 was not an easy one. It is a well known fact that the location of a shed has high impact on the pigeons. A fantastic shed itself can be worthless in a new location… First the shed was further away from buildings, but after the move it bordered on both sides to housing, and early sunlight was somewhat impaired by Jan’s new house. Young pigeons did not adapt well during early learning. Jan and Henk tried several measures that all proved not too successful: different roofing, changing windows, more air supply, extra light holes, but unfortunately nothing worked very well.
Finally we solved the problem of the living environment by improving the air supply. Moveable air intakes at the front of the shed could be adjusted to fit the needs of it’s inhabitants.
To improve the blood-line of the race, we went to the public auction of Heremans – Ceusters from Vorselaar in Belgium. We purchased a daughter of the Olypiade “doffer” 003, called Las Vegas. She herself took first prize in her first race. It was in Noyon, amongst 1.145 other pigeons. In 2008 this hen pigeon produced her first eggs in the breeding area. Not even two months later, two sons of her did very well and also took home first prizes in competitions. We decided to establish better contact with Leo Heremans and after several visits a strong friendship emerged. We are now the proud owners of seven children of this fantastic Olympiade pigeons.
We have children from the Olympiade with:
- The 400- hen pigeon
- The Tongerke
- In-bred with daughter Olympiade x Tongerke
- In-bred with daughter Olympiade x the hen pigeon
- Daughter “Nieuwe Rossi” x “Eenoogske”
Besides the children of the Olympiade, we have purchased other pigeons directly from Leo Heremans. Amongst these are children of the “Saffier”(Olympiade x Tongerke), children and grandchildren of “Nieuwe Rossi” x “Eenoogske”, grandchildren Euro, child and grandchildren of Frederik X Flitske, children and grandchildren of De Jan, daughter 444 and grandchildren Rossi x Spinneke (purchased by the Eijerkamp family)
